Rainfall

Monthly Rainfall

(Analysis of Dry and Wet months 1991 to 1997 using Sidereal Zodiac (Fagan), figures are from Drumburgh Auxiliary weather station: WMO 03209, an official site which is run by the author).

The two tables below are the result of computing the solar ingress for each month and then calculating the amount of rain that fell between each ingress. This is not the normal procedure, as meteorologically the beginning and end of each calendar month is defined as the rainfall period. The driest and wettest solar ingress months from 1991 to 1998 were computed, I then selected the wettest months, mostly those above 100.0mm (4") followed by the driest months usually below 25.0mm (1"), an inch of rain converted to millimetres equals approx. 25.0mm. The combined ascendant and anti-culmination (IC) signs (in astrometeorology the IC is said to represent one's locality) were then taken from each group and then laid out, as below.

Dry months

AR TA GE CN LE VI LI SC SG CP AQ PI
AS 2 2 1 0 1 0 4 1 5 1 2 0
IC 3 4 3 2 1 0 1 0 0 0 4 1
Tot: 5 6 4 2 2 0 5 1 5 1 6 1

Element: Fire 12 Earth 7 Air 15 Water 4
IC: Fire 4 Earth 4 Air 8 Water 3

Wet months

AR TA GE CN LE VI LI SC SG CP AQ PI
AS 1 3 2 1 4 4 0 3 2 0 1 1
IC 2 1 2 4 1 0 1 5 2 2 0 2
Tot: 3 4 4 5 5 4 1 8 4 2 1 3

Element: Fire 12 Earth 10 Air 6 Water 16
IC: Fire 5 Earth 3 Air 3 Water 11

DRY months: highest AIR 15 - lowest WATER 4.
WET months: highest WATER 16 - lowest AIR 6.

The above indicates quite strongly that the basic elements and their properties have some general bearing on whether the month will be wet or dry. The interesting thing is that in the dry month total the water element is very low and likewise in the wet month total the air element is also below the average.

Highest Rainfall days for Drumburgh Auxiliary Weather Station.

(Using the Capsolar ingress (sidereal Sun in Capricorn), quotidian prog. and Sunrise chart (SR).

I checked my personal rainfall data to assess the highest rainfall day for each year from 1991 to 1997. The list below shows the date and amount of rain for the 24 hours 0900 to 0900 GMT, which is the standard observing time for climatological purposes.

Year Date Rainfall(mm)

1991 10/11 27.5
1992 01/12 18.2
1993 13/05 38.2
1994 24/08 25.0
1995 15/11 29.7
1996 14/10 24.1
1997 13/07 32.9

The table below shows the quotidian (1 degree per day - angles) and sunrise (event) contacts to the capsolar ingress chart, only the AS. MC and A/M are used. The sunrise contacts are those made to the sunrise chart (AS, MC A/M) itself:

Aspects 8th harm. Total
Quot. prog.........Jupiter.....4
Saturn......4
Uranus.....4

Sunrise to capsolar...Uranus.....4

Sunrise (event)...Moon......6
Mars.......5
Jupiter.....5
Neptune...4
Venus......4

We can see that in the quotidian section that Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus are heavily favoured by the progressed angles for the rainfall day in question, I might add here that 3 of my rainfall days were thunderstorms and that in the sunrise event charts to the capsolar ingress charts Uranus (electrical!) in the capsolar ingress, was being hit by the sunrise angles on that day. We also find that on these heaviest rainfall days that the Moon is strongly configured with the sunrise angles. The moon being a planet of moisture/wetness this is no surprise, all these contacts are in the 8th harmonic series and within 2° of orb.

Now we come to another method of delinating a chart and this is an old Vedic method called "Chaleta Bhava Kundali", this method is also discussed in the chapter "Wind Velocity - Tornadoes" so please refer to that section. Just briefly, in the Chaleta system the planets are subtracted from the ascendant but in this rainfall section I also decided to use the IC as well as the AS point, the IC is more suggestive of one's locality and perhaps describes the weather more precisely than the ascendant point.

1991
Q1 A/M to Mars and Neptune.
sunrise AS to Moon and Neptune.
sunrise A/M to Pluto.
sunrise Venus to A/M.
sunrise Moon and Mars to A/M.

1992 (th)
Q1 AS to Venus MC to Neptune (AS) Uranus to (AS).
sunrise AS to Venus.
sunrise A/M to Neptune.
sunrise Moon and Saturn to (AS).

1993
Q1 AS to Moon and Neptune.
sunrise AS to Mars and Jupiter.
sunrise MC to Saturn.
sunrise Moon to Neptune and Uranus.

1994
Q1 AS to Jupiter.
sunrise A/M to Jupiter.
sunrise Moon to Saturn.

1995
Q1 AS to Neptune and Jupiter.
sunrise AS Jupiter (AS).
sunrise Venus to IC (AS).
sunrise Moon to Neptune.

1996 (th)
Q1 AS to Pluto and Venus.
sunrise A/M Jupiter.
sunrise Venus IC.
sunrise Moon to Uranus.

1997 (th)
Q1 MC to Neptune.
sunrise AS to Uranus.
sunrise A/M to Jupiter and Neptune.
sunrise Jupiter to MC.
sunrise Uranus to IC (AS).
sunrise Moon to Uranus.

NB: The year with a bracket (th) denotes that the rainfall event is associated with a thunderstorm, the planet with the (AS) next to it refers to the ascendant point instead of the IC point which are left unbracketed.

In the Q1 sections we see that Neptune has 4 hits from the quotidian progressed angles Neptune as we know is the main moisture retaining planet. The sunrise event charts show Jupiter with 5 and Neptune with 3 contacts to the angle points, Jupiter being the signal for copious rainfall. In the statistical analysis done by Garth Allen, Jupiter (Pluvius-rainmaker) is shown to be very prominent in record rainfall figures throughout the United States.

The table above also shows that the Moon in the sunrise charts is very active when it comes to the interaction with the outer planetary placement in the capsolar charts (two MO-UR in thunderstorm events), Venus also shows some activity with the capsolar angles, Venus is a particularily wet planet in astrometeorology which is testified again in the work done by Allen.

Venus -0- Jupiter as rainfall indicators

Now since we know that Venus and Jupiter are important rainmakers it occured to me that these two planets in their synod conjunction could be an important cycle aided chart to determine rainfall. These charts don't show much in themselves apart for a slight Jupiter angularity, but no doubt they can be progressed. The results are given below:

Q1 prog. angles to... Transits (sunrise chart) to angles

1991 MC to Neptune.
1992 MC to Neptune - Venus to AS.
1993 A/M to Neptune - Venus to MC.
1994 A/M to Neptune - Venus to AS.
1994 A/M to Uranus.
1994 A/M to Saturn.
1995 MC to Jupiter.
1995 MC to Venus.
1996 MC to Saturn - Venus to MC.
1997 MC to Neptune - Venus to AS.
1997 AS to Uranus.
1997 A/M to Saturn.

We see at once that Venus by transit (the day of the event or sunrise chart) is aspecting the angles to the VE-0-JU chart on 5 rainfall days with the quotidian progressions having the angles to Neptune in 5 cases. All aspects are in the 8th harmonic series +/- 2 days, in other words almost exact on the day.

Thunderstorms

I collected twelve severe thunderstorms from around the UK which were prominant in their severity and flooding. Looking at the last caplunar ingress (Moon into Capricorn) we find that the planets most prominant on or aspecting the angles were Mercury and Jupiter, Jupiter and Mercury are positioned on the angles in more than half the totals. Jupiter is often a planet associated with heavy record breaking rainfall. Mercury is defined as being a dry-windy planet so its influence is rather sketchy though saying that many severe thunderstorms have gusts in access of 50 knots so maybe Mercuries role in thundery outbreaks is no so remote as first thought.

On the day in which the thunderstorms occured (the event or Sunrise chart) I set about to see where the interaspects were in relation to the quotidian progressed angles, including the progressed A/M midpoint.
Mars and Jupiter each scored 6 direct hits (well above the other planets) from the sunrise chart to the quotidian progressions, Mars and Jupiter are both important indicators towards thundery situations, this is also testified by vedic astrometeorologists.

Alfred Witte the German astrologer famed for his hypothetical planets termed the Transneptunians, ... known as the Hamburg School and later the Uranian school in the USA, describes one of his hypothetical planets, Admetos, as meaning, "great intensity.., rotation, circulation", this neatly fits in with the updraughts and downdraughts inherent in thunderstorm activity.

Admetos may have some correlation to Supercell thunderstorms which simple put are coherent storms systems which propagate themselves, by this I mean that the updraught and downdraught circulation of air is finely balanced producing a self-sustaining system which makes the storm intense in which it can last for several hours, severe flooding is often the result. Though these supercell structures are uncommon in the UK, several do develop occasionally in the summer months. Admentos was also prominant to the capsolar quotidian progressed angles.

The severe storms at Hampstead 14th August 1975, Wokingham 22nd June 1960 and the Southern Ireland storm centered around County Kilkenny and Cork 30th June 1995, were supercell structures in that they produced torrential rain, hail and in the Kilkenny Southern Ireland storm some evidence of tornadic activity.

All three sunrise charts for these supercell storms show that the uranian planet Vulcanus is aspecting the angles:

Hampstead = Vulcanus -45- AS

Wokingham = Vulcanus -0- AS

S. Ireland = Vulcanus -135- MC

Vulcanus according to Witte is "energy, might, force and power" especially when it is attached to the angles, so we can surmise that on these days a powerful event would be potentially indicated.

Using the last cardinal sidereal solar ingress, which is the ariesolar ingress in these three storms, and also the main capsolar ingress, I proceeded to investigate the angular contacts. I also converting these aries ingress charts to the 64th harmonic to investigate the micro aspects.

Other contacts to the UK 64th harmonic yield, Venus to Venus (-0-), a wet day!, and the powerful combination of Sun/AS/Pluto and Mars in the event chart to UK 64h Vulcanus at 28° Cancer this is an extreme configuration, denoting very powerful effects this, by the way, also links in with the UK 64h SO/PL mp. 27°Aries04' = sunrise Sun/Asc/Pluto/Mars, and also the UK 64h. SO/MO 22°Sagittarius06' = sunrise Uranus 22°Gemini22', Witte describes this as an "exciting and trying day, sudden hostility or separation" whilst Ebertin has "shared upsets, sudden conflict".

The Wettest Day - Record Rainfall at Martinstown Dorset 18th July 1955

The small town of Martinstown has the honour of being the location for the highest recorded rainfall for the British Isles when 279 mm (11") fell in 24 hours, this record still stands to this day. The cause of this incredible rainfall figure was due to an almost continous line of slow moving thunderstorms.

The sunrise chart for the 18th has the Sun/Asc at 0Cancer39 with the MC 4Pisces19 (both water signs!), we find Uranus close to the SO/AS at 3Cancer38 with Neptune even closer at 1Libra22, Saturn was also making a -135- to the MC plus if we include the uranian Vulcanus (Great power) at 2Gemini21 -90- MC, we have all-in- all, an exceptional summers day destined for the record books.

MC = SA = Vulcanus.

The important midpoints in the sunrise chart using the 32nd H (11°15') with an orb of 0.30' are:

A/M = Mars.
A = Mars/Jupiter.
M = Jupiter/Uranus.
M = Saturn/Vulcanus.

Looking back to the last sidereal Caplunar chart (Moon into Capricorn 6th July 05:45 BST) we have Jupiter -135- the MC with Venus -22.30- the ascendant, both these planets are major rainmakers, as with the sunrise chart the midpoints ring a familiar tone:

A = Jupiter/Uranus.
A = Saturn/Vulcanus.
A = Sun/Uranus and Sun/Mars.

The sidereal Cansolar ingress (Sun into Cancer 17th July 12:45 BST) which is one of our base or seed charts, has Uranus 11°15' (32nd H) to the ascendant and the midpoint structures correlate with both the sunrise and caplunar midpoints as follows:

Midpoints in Cansolar chart....Midpoints in caplunar...Midpoints in Sunrise (event) chart
A/M = Jupiter........................................................................A/M = Mars
A = Mars/Jupiter...................................................................A = Mars/Jupiter
A = Sun/Neptune..........................A = Sun/Uranus..............A = Sun/Neptune
M = Sun/Pluto................................................................................................
......................................................A = Saturn/Vulcanus......M = Saturn/Vulcanus
......................................................A = Jupiter/Uranus.........M = Jupiter/Uranus

[NB: Of course the cansolar is within one day of the event so most of the midpoints will remain the same]

I've highlighted the Saturn/Vulcanus and Jupiter/Uranus midpoints as these are shown in both the sunrise and caplunar charts, the Jupiter/Uranus midpoints are interesting as these two can be contributed to atmospheric uplift (Jupiter) and turbulence (Uranus) an ingredient necessary for the formation of thunderstorms. Also the Mars/Jupiter (Mars giving the heat and humidity with Jupiter's role of uplift and release = rain) combinations are also very important factors in the sunrise chart and cansolar charts, as we have mention a few times before, these two are the prime thunder combination.

If we now progress the caplunar chart to the 18th July for a time of 0900 hours using the Q1 angle progressions we find:

Q1 progression chart
Caplunar Quot. p. AS = 4° Cancer = -0- Uranus, -0- Mars and -90- Neptune.
Caplunar Quot. p. MC = 10° Pisces = -135- uranian "Destructive Thunderstorm".

(The reason for using a time of 0900 is that this is the usual time for recording rainfall for the 24 hour period 0900 to 0900 GMT.)

One can see that the last cardinal lunar ingress is a powerful chart both natally and by progression, the Uranus and Neptune theme is matched with the same Uranus and Neptune contact in the sunrise chart, another case for exact planetary symmetry working out.

The sunrise chart to the 1801 UK chart show many interesting contacts, all contacts are in the 4th H series with an orb of 4d, (e) refers to the aspect being exact:

Sunrise to UK chart

Mercury = Uranus & Vulcanus and uranian "Storms".
Venus = Sun (e) (Rain).
Mars = Jupiter (e) (Thunder combination).
Saturn = Mars (e).
Pluto = Saturn (e).
N. Node = Uranian "Floods" (e) and "Rainstorm" (e).
Sunrise to the 64th harmonic UK chart.
AS/Sun = app. to Jupiter & Neptune.
Mercury = Uranian "Storms/Floods" (e).
Venus = Uranian "Cloudburst".
Mars = Mars.
Saturn = Uranian Hades (e).
Uranus = Jupiter (e) Neptune (e) and uranian "Storms".
Pluto = Saturn.
MC = Uranus.
N. Node = Uranian "Thunder with damage" (e).

See the article on the UK charts 1801 and 1707 in relation to severe weather for more in-depth information.

Most Thunder Reported each Month by Climat. Stations (source: Journal of Meteorology)

This section deals with an interesting study on the distribution of thunder reported by climatological stations throughout the UK, the total value of each station reporting thunder was added and the monthly totals are given below:

Date Year No.of
stations %
11 Jan 1974 159 29.3
22 Feb 1995 132 24.7
21 Mar 1983 100 20.5
29 Apr 1987 110 21.7
20 May 1981 219 43.8
24 Jun 1994 253 46.9
14 Jul 1982 212 43.4
08 Aug 1975 293 56.9
15 Sep 1973 180 32.5
03 Oct 1984 132 26.7
12 Nov 1991 69 12.4
07 Dec 1976 98 19.9

So for example, on the 8th of August 1975, 293 climate stations reported thunder which represents nearly 57% of the total climate stations in the UK, see more on this thundery day below.
Collating all the years and using the quotidian progression rate from the last capsolar (Capricorn sidereal Sun ingress) we find that the progressed angles are contacting Uranus (electrical) in 5 cases on the day of the event or the sunrise chart. The last caplunar (Capricorn sidereal Moon ingress) chart has Mercury either on or aspecting an angle in 9 instances, Mercury is also classed as an electrical trigger, with Mars (thunder) in 7 cases.

Using the UK 1801 chart we find that the UK Uranus, Venus and Vulcanus are being aspected 7 out of the 12 totals by either transiting Mercury or Mars, Witte also defines Uranus + Vulcan as "Lightning and thunderbolts". So we can surmise that this degree area on the UK chart is particularily sensitive to electrical disturbances, in fact the UK Uranus tree has the potential for severe weather, which also includes the uranian picture cloudburst and lightning/thunderbolt, see article on the UK 1801 chart and weather interaction.

Uranus tree:

UR 9VI56

-*VE*- 24CP34
-JU/PL- 25AR19
-*VU*- 9PI26
-MA/SA- 10GE36
-VE/NE- 10SG40
Cloudburst 10GE08
Lightning/Thunderbolt 10PI31

Most Thundery Day in the UK - 8th August 1975

On this day 293 climat. stations (Climatological stations) reported thunderstorms or thunder in their vicinity this represents nearly 57% of the total network of climat. stations in the UK.

The sunrise chart (event 04:39:57 GMT London) for this day has the Sun and Asc. at 20°37' Cancer with the MC 3°24' Aries. Looking at the sunrise aspects we find Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus all within 3° in hard aspect to the MC, the potential here for wet, threatening and thundery conditions.

Looking at the last caplunar chart (Moon sidereal ingress into Capricorn - 22nd July 19:08 GMT) has Mars being hit exactly 90° by the transiting sunrise Sun/Asc, a hot and humid day, with the sunrise MC 1° (applying) to the caplunar Sun and also 180° the Sun/Moon and Pluto/MC midpoint.

Looking at the seasonal ingress chart, the cansolar (sidereal Sun ingress into Cancer 17th July 1975 14:37 GMT London), the asc 20°Libra23' falls perfectly with the sunrise Sun/AS 90°, therefore setting off the chart and we find that Mars is 3° from the sunrise Sun/AS (90°) and 180° the Moon/Mars midpoint.

If we progress the cansolar chart we find that the A/M progressed midpoint at 3°Libra10' is applying to Uranus in the cansolar chart at 4°Libra and also kicks into the sunrise MC at 3° Aries. The potential for electrical disturbances in the atmosphere are greatly enhanced by this configuration.

With Mars and Uranus being key factors in these charts the high temperatures and high humidity are important ingredients for a thundery outbreak, Uranus denotes upper air cooling and a rapid acceleration of uplift which produce the type of cloud called cumulonimbus with the resulting thunderstorms.

Interestingly, the sunrise Mars at 1°Taurus24' is exactly (within the minute) 90° to Saturn in the 1801 Union chart. Pearce describes this as a "Great disturbance of weather" (Text-Book of Astrology Book III Astro-meteorology), but not only that we also find that the sunrise Sun/AS is within 1° of the 1801 UK chart Mars at 1° Aries, and using the 64th harmonic Union chart, exactly with the Uranian planet Hades which describes an "unpleasant" day.

Arrow Wind Velocity - Gales & Tornadoes

Severe Gales in the UK

Severe gales are a fairly common feature in the United Kingdom more especially during the autumn and winter months when from time to time an Atlantic depression can gather itself up and bring much disruption and havoc to large parts of the British Isles.
There are five Gale events I would like to focus upon. These are the "Great Storm" that occurred on the 25th November 1703 with a great loss of life and extensive damage and by all accounts the greatest storm ever known in this country, the so-called "Hurricane" that hit South East England in the early hours of the 16th of October 1987, probably the severest gale of the 20th century, the more widely destructive gale of 1990 on the 25th January which covered a larger proportion of the UK again causing much disruption, I have also included the lesser gales of 1930, 16th December, and the gale of 1993 which occurred on the 13th January.

Astrometeorology defines Mercury as the planet of wind; the mercurial mind as relating to human intellect and the rapid nerve transmission in the brain can be seen in the atmospheric condition as rapid air movement. The first thing we need to do is see what the last Mercury ingress chart was doing before the storm event itself then we can introduce more charts to add to the jigsaw, in Mundane work no one chart is good enough to determine the eventual outcome.

Just looking at the last Mercury ingress charts before the event we find:

1703…AS = Libra (air) IC = Capricorn
1930…AS = Leo (fire) IC = Scorpio
1987…AS = Libra (air) IC = Capricorn
1990…AS = Gemini (air) IC = Cancer
1993…AS = Libra (air) IC = Capricorn

We see that the AS is predominately air, air being the traditional windy element. The aspects to Mercury reveal a heavy configuration with Jupiter and Pluto plus Mercury is seen contacting the ascendant in all but one of the gales. Therefore the stage is set for some turbulent activity sometime between the present ingress to the next ingress.

Mercury synods to SA/UR/NE/PL

Mercury to the conjunction of Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto before the storm event, may well denote the type of wind force that may eventually work out into the environment, for example the Mercury -0- Uranus chart may tell us something about sudden squalls or violent gusts, with Mercury -0- Saturn telling us that a steady increase in wind strength reaching gale force over a period of time is more likely. These charts I examined in light of the above mentioned storms, the results are shown below.

Planets in angular location 8 degrees either side of an angle, planet(s) in (…) indicate those in angular houses using the placidus house system. The first three are recorded as the most severe gales in the UK.

Mercury -0- Saturn:
1703 - Sun/Jupiter/Pluto
1987 - Sun/Neptune (Uranus)
1990 - Jupiter/Uranus/Neptune (Moon Mercury/Saturn)
--------
1930 - Venus/Uranus/Neptune (Mars Mercury/Saturn)
1993 - Mercury/Saturn (Neptune)

Mercury -0- Uranus:
1703 - Saturn/Neptune (Sun)
1987 - (Mercury/Uranus/Saturn)
1990 - Moon/Mars/Saturn/Pluto (Venus)
-------
1930 - (Venus/Mars/Pluto)
1993 - Neptune (Moon/Mercury/Uranus)

Mercury -0- Neptune:
1703 - Moon/Venus
1987 - Mercury/Neptune (Sun/Jupiter)
1990 - Moon/Pluto
--------
1930 - Mercury/Neptune/Jupiter/Uranus
1993 - Jupiter (Saturn)

Mercury -0- Pluto:
1703 - Jupiter (Moon/Uranus)
1987 - Mercury/Pluto
1990 - Venus/Jupiter/Saturn/Neptune (Moon)
--------
1930 - Venus/Mars/Mercury/Pluto (Saturn)
1993 - Mercury/Pluto (Moon)

Perhaps the most important points about these charts is the placement of the Mercury -0- SA/UR/NE or PL on an angle; 3 in the Mercury/Saturn charts, 2 in the Mercury/Uranus charts, 2 in the Mercury/Neptune charts and 3 in the Mercury/Pluto charts. This doesn't tell us very much but does show that these Mercury planetary configurations have a potential for working out into the physical level.

Secondary prog. (Q1) from Mercury synod charts (-/+ 3 days) using AS, MC & AS/MC

Since transits are fine when dealing with longer time intervals, when it comes to shorter durations such as a month or so the method I have found the most useful, especially in regards to the angle movement, is the progressed mean Quotidian or Q1. This method moves the angles by approximately 1 degree per day, since I find the angles are essential in the timing of events and are more personal to the specified location than the more global planetary contacts.

Now we have to see if any of these charts can work out physically through our progression techniques to the event Sunrise chart, the day of the storm. We are here using only the progressed angles from the prime Mercury synod charts with the aspects in the 8th Harmonic series (0-45-90-135-180) all within 2° orb.

We find in the Mercury-0-Saturn charts that the progressed AS and MC (or A/M mp) angles are hitting Saturn (Mercury and Saturn) in the event chart in four out of the five charts, which includes the three most severest. This suggests that the Mercury -0- Saturn chart is powerful and that there is an indication of a weather pattern which steadily produces ever increasing low pressure systems which gradualy deepen which ultimately produce storms or gales.

This is a classic Saturnian result giving heavy overtones in the atmosphere. Though we shouldn't dismiss the other Mercury charts, for instance in the Mercury-0-Pluto the three strongest gales all have progressed angles to Neptune, which hints at a possible "block" to the air circulation and the creation of a pool of cyclonicity in which depressions can give birth, but the last Mercury-0-Saturn charts should take, in my view, priority over the other Mercury synods.

Before we leave these Mercury conjunction charts there is another Mercury chart that seems interesting and that is the synod of Vulcanus one of the transneptunian planets advocated by the German astrologer Alfred Witte. Vulcanus represents "great energy, power and force" and we find in the three severest gales the planetary picture:

Mercury+Vulcanus=Moon "the public under the impact of...an enormous might."

By this I mean that the quotidian progressions AS-MC and/or A/M were touching the Moon in the Mercury conjunct Vulcanus chart, thereby by inference we have Mercury/Vulcanus with the Moon.

If we once again use the quotidian angle progressions from the Mercury -0- Vulcanus charts to the gale event we find that the angles are contacting Neptune in all 3 of the severest gales with the angles contacting Saturn in 2 of the lesser gales.

Mercury -0- Vulcanus

Quotidian (Q1) progressed angles (AS, MC & A/M)
(8th Harmonic series)
1703 ME-0-VU - MC(p)=NE
1987 ME-0-VU - A/M(p)=NE
1990 ME-0-VU - AS(p)=NE
1930 ME-0-VU - AS(p)=SA
1993 ME-0-VU - MC(p)=SA

These Mercury -0- Vulcanus may be a further valid chart to work with, but as ever, needs further investigation.

Last Sidereal Sun Ingress: secondary prog. Angles (Q1) from last Sun ingress prior to event

Here we are using the last sidereal Sun ingress and from their using our quotidian progressed angles to the event chart or day of storm.
8th Harmonic series
1703 - MC(p)=MA
1987 - MC(p)=MA
1990 - MC(p)=MA
-----
1993 - No Mars
1930 - A/M(p)=MA

The most prominant picture that emerges is that Mars is hit 4 out of the 5 gales, I have excluded the other contacts which are varied, to show more clearly this interesting Mars effect, Mars by its very nature would indicate violent conditions.

Sun Ingress capsolar

Now to add the picture together we must include the all important main ingress chart which is the Capricorn ingress or the capsolar which usually controls the overall picture, either weather or other mundane events, for the whole year ahead. We will use a different approach this time and use the transiting midpoints to the capsolar angles. We find that in the three severest gales the transiting Sun/Neptune midpoint (SO/NE) is contacting the capsolar angles:

Transit m/p to Capsolar angles

1703 - SO/NE (sunrise) = MC (capsolar)
1987 - SO/NE (sunrise) = A/M (capsolar)
1990 - SO/NE (sunrise) = AS (capsolar)

The sunrise chart is used in Vedic astrometeorology as a way of determing the weather for the next 24 hours, and this shows that there is some validity in this method, and with the SO/NE midpoint=angles on the day in question there would be "chaotic conditions" or a "negative environment".

Therefore we can see that several charts need to be looked at in order to understand the overall picture. These are the Mercury planet synods more particularly the -0- with Saturn, the last solar ingress whichever that may be, and finally the base ingress the all- important capsolar chart, all these charts can be progressed using the quotidian method which show the angle contacts to the day of the event, in this case severe gales.

Storm chart - Mars-0-Uranus 28th June 1703

The Mars -0- Uranus chart

The Mars -0- Uranus chart showing interactions with other UK storms

The reason for using this chart as a prime storm chart is the close connection between Mars -180- Uranus in the event chart for the "Great Storm" of 1703 which when digressed to the Mars -0- Uranus shows many pertinent connections to the other two major gales of 1987 and 1990 as well as the 1703 event.

The MA -0- UR chart has Mercury 8 degrees separating from this conjunction, Mercury being our key wind planet, the Mercury midpoint tree structure has ME= MA/UR -90- VU (Vulcanus) which according to Witte's Rules "…exposed to violent acts of others…to live in a dangerous environment…victim of violence…", as the storm of 1703 claimed 7,000 lives and untold damage to port and land this seems quite an apt description.

Taking the event chart for 1703 we find that Mercury is exactly -0- on the MC of the MA-0-UR chart and using our secondary progressed method (Q1) we find that on this date the MA-0-UR Asc has progressed exactly to Mercury -0-, a dual actionary event which increases the validity of this chart being important for gales. And If go further with our progressions and look at the 1987 and 1990 gales which caused millions of pounds worth of damage as well as loss of life, we find in the 1987 gale that the progressed AS was -22.5- (16th) from the MA-0-UR chart with the A/M (midpoint) progression -0- on the MA/UR in the 1990 gale event. Looking at the chart will hopefully make these points clearer.

It is also interesting to see that in both the 1987 and 1990 gales that the North node is contacting the MC/IC axis which denotes that communication and interaction with people is severely disrupted the MC tree has MC=Hades/Vulcanus "dependant on natural forces" and that Pluto and Mars (1990 and 1987 respectively) are both exactly on this MC point which refer to "destructive and evil forces" which can't be lightly put aside, though Witte's terminology must not be taken too literally!.

Though this 1703 MA-0-UR chart may be powerful in its working, the other MA-0-UR charts must also be taken into account, for instance taking the last MA-0-UR before 1987 and 1990, we find that both Mercuries in the event chart (sunrise) are contacting the AS of the previous MA-0-UR chart.

Tornadoes

Tornadoes originate from intense thunderstorms or deep cold frontal systems. The US has probably the greatest volume of tornadoes in the world, but other parts of the globe are also prone to these natural catastrophic events. The British Isles especially England for its size has around 40 reported tornadoes per year, though not as violent as the mighty vortexes in the United States.

From various sources ("Climates of the British Isles - past, present and future" and "The Weather of Britain") I found 12 important tornado events that took place in England, these are listed below:

South Wales - 27th Oct. 1913.
Birmingham - 14th Jun. 1931.
Buckinghamshire to north Norfolk - 21st May 1950.
Chesterfield - 19th May 1952.
London - 8th Dec. 1954.
Woking - 21st Jul. 1965.
Coventry - 21st Apr. 1968.
London, Barnet - 29th Nov. 1970.
London, Upminster - 25th Jan. 1971.
Newmarket - 3rd Jan. 1978.
Record outbreak 105 tornadoes - 21st Nov. 1981.
Southern England 22 tornadoes 21st Sep. 1982.

Sunrise charts

Using the sunrise chart for the event day I found 5 Neptune's and 4 Saturn's exactly aspecting an angle, so the day itself in somes cases had the potential for atmospheric disturbance (Neptune - Saturn).

Using these sunrise planetary degrees to the UK 1801 chart, see article "Interaction with UK charts", I found the following:
Sunrise Planets to 1801 UK chart (8th harmonic series orb 4d)

5 Moon, 5 MC and 5 Pluto to 1801 Uranus/Vulcanus 9° Virgo/Pisces
6 Mars to 1801 Pluto 10° Aquarius
6 Mars & 5 Uranus to 1801 Hades 5° Scorpio
5 Uranus to 1801 Sun 18° Sagittarius
6 Asc- Sun to 1801 (64th) Mars 7° Libra

Sunrise Midpoints to 1801 UK chart

Number of midpoints to UK Chart (4th harmonic series 3d. orb)
4 VE/PL Transit midpoints to UK 1801 (radix) Uranus/Vulcanus 9° Virgo/Pisces.
4 PL/MC Transit midpoints to UK 1801 (radix) Jupiter 10° Cancer.
5 AS-SU/MA Transit midpoints to UK 1801 (64th harmonic) Jupiter/Neptune 3° Capricorn.
5 SA/PL Transit midpoints to UK 1801 (64th harmonic) Pluto/Admetos 28/29° Gemini.
4 AS-SU/JU & 4 VE/PL Transit midpoints to UK 1801 (64th harmonic) Uranian point "Destructive power of nature" 11° Virgo.

Last Solar Ingress before the event

Looking at the angular positions Pluto comes to the fore with a score of 8, quite a large number which hints at the potential destructiveness. Looking at the UK 1801 64th harmonic chart Pluto is at 28° Gemini, in the solar ingress charts SA/PL has 4 contacts to Pluto's placement. Also the Uranian point of "destructive power..." in the UK chart is being hit 4 times by the solar ingress PL/MC midpoints.

I will now use three examples to show the deeper linkage between these tornadic events, the largest outbreak on the 21st November 1981, the Birmingham tornado on the 14th June 1931 graded F6 on the TORRO scale*, and the South Wales tornado also graded F6 with associated violent thunderstorms with hail on the 27th October 1913. *TORRO or the Tornado and Storm Research Organisation has developed a Tornado Intensity Scale which classifies each tornado with a strength index from F0 Light to F8 Severely Devasting Tornado which is very rare for the UK - F6 is classed as a Moderately Devasting Tornado.

The Birmingham tornado on the 14th June 1931 (F6) AS=Mercury/Saturn, AS=Mars/Saturn

UK Largest Tornado outbreak on 21st November 1981 AS=Mercury/Saturn

The progressed ascendant contact with the Mercury/Saturn midpoint is very descriptive of the wind circulation, in this combination the wind is increased to damaging proportions, also included in two events is the Mars/Saturn midpoint which adds to the damage and turmoil caused by these events.

The Birmingham tornado on the 14th June 1931 (F6) Neptune/Mc=Uranus
UK Largest Tornado outbreak on 21st November 1981 Mercury/Asc=Uranus

With Uranus there is a "Sudden event" which results in "chaos and disorder", which doesn't need further elaboration.

The Birmingham tornado on the 14th June 1931 (F6) Mars/Mc=Asc, Saturn/Asc=Mars
UK Largest Tornado outbreak on 21st November 1981 Mars/Asc=Saturn

Here we have the combination of Mars and Saturn, again strife and lots of energy are given off in these tornadoes and so we can see that all three ingress combinations have there connectivity and symmetry.

Admetos amongst some of its keywords is described as "rotation, circulation and separation...", all pretty good descriptions of tornado activity.

Planetary Cycles

Now if planetary cycles are interrelated to humanities evolution, be it subtly and at times unconsciously, we may perhaps refer these cycles to other earthly events that is climatic conditions. It struck me that the cyclic periods of the outer planets may well relate to certain specific weather conditions, in other words the conjunction of these planets may well denote areas in which weather related events can seen in respect to transits and directions. If we apply this to our current topic what better symbolism is that of the Jupiter-0- Uranus conjunction where uplift (Jupiter) is met with turbulence (Uranus), of course other keywords relating to these planets are well known by astrologers but we are here dealing with meteorological aspects and must keep to this avenue of terminology. In this example I will be using the largest tornado outbreak 21st November 1981 and the last conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus which occurred on the 20th July 1969 at around 07:52 GMT. This chart is set out below with the tornado event on the outside.

Jupiter -0- Uranus chart with Tornado outbreak sunrise chart contacts.

The contacts between the two charts:

Also worth noting is the sunrise Sun and Moon midpoint within 8' square to the Jupiter/Uranus Midheaven midpoint.

Chaleta Bhava Kundali - The Diurnal Chart Predictive Method

This is an ancient Vedic system of prediction in which the planets etc, are subtracted from the exact ascendant degree, so for instance if my Moon is in Capricorn at 24°25' converted to longitude gives 294.25, and my ascendant is Gemini 14°26' (74.26) we have 74.26 - 294.25, here with the ascendant being less than the planet we need to add 360d to the ascendant longitude total which adds up to 74.26+360= 434.26, now we can subtract the Moon:

AS=434.26 minus Moon 264.25=170.01 converted to sign position gives us Virgo 20°01'

It's really quite simple to do this and takes less than a few minutes to convert all the planetary bodies to the ascendant co-ordinates.
In four major tornado events, which includes tornadoes from the US; Florida 22nd February 1998, Madison, Austin and the largest tornado outbreak in the UK on the 21st of November 1981, the results when converted to the Sun Ingress into Capricorn (Capsolar ingress) show that there is some aspects of this system worth exploring further, the results:

Capsolar converted to asc. Chaleta Bhava Kundali

Florida
Capsolar to Sunrise (event) chart
Moon=14 Aries -90- Uranus
Mars=15 Libra -90- Uranus
Neptune=8 Scorpio -90- AS/Sun

Madison
Capsolar to Sunrise (event) chart
Saturn=24 Aries -90- Jupiter
Uranus=7 Cancer -0- AS/Sun

Austin
Capsolar to Sunrise (event) chart
Saturn=25 Taurus -0- Venus -90- Mars
Uranus=23 Cancer -0- IC

UK outbreak
Capsolar to Sunrise (event) chart
Moon=23 Gemini -0- Saturn
Mars=24 Virgo -0- Saturn
Uranus=7 Sagittarius -90- Moon

There are contacts, to or from Uranus in all these major tornadic events, the turbulence and mayhem caused by tornados is very much a Uranian theme.

The Weather Factor

If you saw the movie "The Day After Tomorrow", this might cause you to think about the weather conditions throughout the world that are about to take place. Starting with the hurricanes here in Florida to the forthcoming Winter storms. Many times after a movie, such as "JAWS", the reality seems to follow the movie. Over the next few months, I will bring you weather related articles. The following is a chapter from my book, "The Key to Speculation for the Real Estate Market".

The Weather Factor

When people change residence, or purchase real estate in unknown areas, on thing they take for granted is the weather factor. If you are going to a region that is in a hurricane zone, but hasn’t had a hurricane in the last two years or so, you’ll find that people get more lax about building codes or protection in relation to such a storm, as along the Atlantic Coast, especially Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and up along the East Coast. Many people would purchase real estate in low lying areas when such a disaster happens, where the would lose everything. So, it is very important to check sea level, along with the hazards related to weather conditions of that area. Whether it be a tornado belt, hurricane zone, earthquake zone, or flood zone; if you are moving into a location or purchasing real estate, the natal chart can tell you a great deal about weather factors that are projected for the future. Most areas have sever weather with the transit of Saturn in a terminal house: the 4th, 8th, or 12th house; the fourth being more dominant for earthquakes, the 8th house being more dominant for flood or hurricane-type destruction, and the 12th house is more related to tornado destruction. But there are other factors related to weather. Take droughts, for example; with the purchase of farmland, this becomes a very important factor. The Statistical Abstract of the United States also give you information concerning factors relating to weather, such as temperature, and ground elevation, which can help you determine your potential growth area as well as your protection from weather factors. Many properties on beach fronts are uninsurable against floods, such as along the Florida Keys. What about cold weather? There are expenses involved in heating a home or in running an apartment building. Weather states and freeze occurrences are published throughout different locations in the United States.

Weather, Climate, and Health Zones

Temperature also has an effect on your health. When relocating or moving to a new area, it is best to keep Saturn out of the 6th house, as well as the 4th or 10th. But within the latitudes, the temperature stays pretty much the same. So if you are living in a bad zone, it is best to move to a zone with the same latitude that you are living in. If latitude 42 and zone 3 is a bad zone for you and you can move to zone 11, you should move to the cities within zone 11 on the latitude 42 especially if the health has been good in the area in which you are presently living. If the health has been bad, then it would alright to change to a more favorable weather pattern within a compatible zone. The weather along your latitudes stays pretty much the same as far as the effects to on your personal body itself. Look at the map of the United States. In relationship to male cardiovascular disease, mortality to the percent of households, you can see the parts of the United States in which the mortality rate is extremely high, and the those zones in which it is not. If heart disease runs high in your family, or his high from heredity influences, then it would not be wise to move to an area where the death rate is extremely high or above normal for heart disease. The same thing applies to cancer. Look at the map of the U.S. that shows the highest mortality rate for cancer. If you are subject to this disease, then you would not want to move to this area, as this itself could aggravate the situation or present the problem to trigger off the event. In my research, I’ve found that all different types of diseases to mankind are more influenced in one area than in other areas. The reason for this is the weather factors, the climate, all present with the magnetic field, could cause a greater growth for the disease itself, such as cancer or other diseases to grow. Whereas, other such areas could kill the infection, virus, or whatever is in that certain zone and latitude. This explains that if the health had been good, but the zone bad, wy it would be favorable to move to a zone in which the same latitude is in and why you should stay out of an area that has a high percentage of above normal of any type of heredity disease, whether it is diabetes or heart problems, cancer or what have. In many of my research studies, I have seen people with heart problems or other diseases move to compatible areas where the death rate was below normal, lead very fruitful and long lives. So these aspects do influence us. Just as if you were to take a coconut tree out of Florida and move it into the New York area; it would not live. It’s like taking an apple tree and moving it down to Florida. Everything was born to be placed in a certain area, and when it’s not in that area, it can become weak, sick and die just like many of our plant life and animal life does. It has been shown that if you take an animal out of its natural zone and place it into another zone, that it will not survive. So remember, for best results, when it comes to health factors in selecting a zone try to find a city or county that sits in the same latitude as yours.
